Communications Sunday
Communications Sunday is an annual observance in the Catholic Church dedicated to reflecting on the vital role of media and communication in sharing the Gospel. Marked on the Seventh Sunday of Easter, it is a time to pray for those who work in the field of communications and to consider how we, as a Church community, can use modern media responsibly and truthfully. The day also highlights the Church’s commitment to promoting dialogue, truth, and connection in an increasingly digital world. This year’s theme, chosen by the Pope, offers guidance on how communication can be rooted in love, empathy, and understanding.
A second collection is taken on Communications Sunday to support the Catholic Church’s communications work, both nationally and locally. This includes funding for media projects that promote the Gospel through television, radio, print, and digital platforms, as well as training for clergy and laypeople in effective communication. The collection helps ensure that the Church can engage with the wider world through high-quality, faith-filled content, especially in a time when clear and compassionate communication is more important than ever.
